When is the next Election?
The next election is the Primary Election June 28, 2022. The one after that is the General Election November 8, 2022.
What is a Primary Election?
In a primary election, voters help decide which political party candidates’ names will be on everyone’s ballot in November. Your vote in a primary is especially important when there are more candidates running for an office than can hold that office—a contested race—because you help decide which candidates will move on to the General Election.
Who Can Vote in a Primary Election?
All registered voters can vote in Illinois primaries. You don’t have to be a member of a political party. However, in Illinois, you will need to choose either a Democratic or Republican primary ballot when you vote. In the pirmary, you’ll be voting only for that party’s candidates.
What Offices Will Be in the Primary Election?
There are two kinds of races in the primary. Some are contested--there are more candidates who want te office than available spots. In contested races, you have a choice of who to select. If there is only one candidate for the available office/spot, then the race is uncontested. You'll see only one name on the ballot for that office.

How? The Champaign County Clerk's website has a My Sample Ballot page. On this page, you will be asked to provide either the last 4 digits of your Social Security number or your complete Illinois driver's license/state ID number.
