Learn About Referendums on Your Ballot - Attend a Voter Information Program on September 22

Champaign County voters will be asked to decide on two key referendums in the upcoming 2024 General election. To inform voters, the League of Women Voters of Champaign County is hosting a Voter Information Program on 2024 Referendums on Sunday, September 22 from 2:00 pm - 4:00  pm at the Champaign Public Library, Rooms A&B, 200 West Green Street.

Briefly the two referendums are:

• Referendum to increase to the countywide sales tax by one-quarter percent for public safety purposes.
• Referendum to abolish the elected County Auditor 

Information on the referendum to increase to the countywide sales tax by one-quarter percent for public safety purposes will be addressed by Steve Summers, County Executive; Stephanie Fortado, County Finance Committee Chair; JJ Farney, County Finance Committee Vice Chair; Elly Hanauer-Friedman, County Finance Committee Member; and Elisabeth Pollock, County Public Defender.  

Information on the referendum to abolish the elected County Auditor will be presented by Deb Busey, former Champaign County Administrator, and Trisha Crowley, President Emerita of the League of Women Voters of Champaign County
