On Wednesday, December 14 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm Lily Walton, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Champaign County and Sheila Dodd, Interim Executive Director of Urbana’s Department of Community Development Services, addressed these issues.

The Credentialed Court begins by establishing just how different today's Justices are from their predecessors. The book combines two massive empirical studies of every Justice's background from John Jay to Amy Coney Barrett with short readable bios of past greats to demonstrate that today's Justices arrive on the Court with much narrower experience than they once did. League member Lila Sullivan will lead the discussion.

He shared the latest from the nonpartisan Candidate Guide, resource for all voters about federal, state, and county candidates in contested races at http://www.votechampaign.org Special Guest Professor Brian Gaines, University of Illinois Department of History with appointments in the Department of Political Science and at the Institute of Government and Public Affairs, shared his research and thoughts on the current political landscape as we approach the November 8 election. In 2019 Nikita Richards was appointed to the Illinois Council on Women and Girls, where she works alongside Lt. Governor Stratton on behalf of women and girls across Illinois to create policy that promotes equity and opportunity. She continues to serve on the Council as Chair of Leadership and Inclusion and as a member of the Academic and Economic Opportunity Committee. In 2022, Ms. Richards was recognized by the U.S House of Representatives for her leadership accomplishments. In addition, she was inducted into the Illinois State University College of Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame.
Council members shared information about running for office, discussed how their roles have developed once in office, and responded to questions. Citizens shared effective strategies for contacting elected officials based on their experience. Also LWVCC Voter Ready co-chair Ann Prisland provided a last-minute primary election voting information. The webinar video is available here on the LWVCC YouTube site.
