Who Can Register to Vote?
You can register to vote if you
- are a US citizen.
- were born on or before April 6, 2003.
If you are 17 on or before the primary election February 23, 2021 AND will be 18 on or before April 6, 2021, you can vote in the primary as well. You must be at least 17 on the day you register to vote. - have lived in your precinct for at least 30 days before the election.
- do not claim the right to vote anywhere else.
- are not convicted in a state or federal court and currently serving that sentence.
When and How to Register
Register Online
Register online option for the February 23, 2021 Primary Election: Now through February 7, 2021.

Register when you go to vote
You have the following options for registering on the same day and at the same time you vote:
First-time voters should bring two forms of identification when you vote in person. You may be asked to show one or both. One needs to be a photo ID. At least one must show your name and current permanent street address. Examples of ID that meet one or both requirements include but aren’t limited to these:

- At Champaign County Clerk’s office January 14 - February 22.
- At University of Illinois campus Early Voting location February 15 - February 22. Pull down the "When and Where to Early Vote" section.
- At county-wide Early Voting location February 15 - February 22. Pull down the "When and Where to Early Vote" section.
- On election day, at your polling place or any county-wide Early Voting site on February 23, 2021.

- Any piece of mail delivered to you at your residence, an online bill or receipt showing your address

Checking Your Registration
You can verify your registration, and view your polling place and other information online, in either of two ways:
- County Clerk's Office Website - My Voting Information - You will need your name and either the last four digits of your Social Security number or your Illinois Driver's License/state ID complete number.
- State Board of Elections Website - Registration Lookup - You will need your address, including zip code, name and birth date.
Change of Address?
I moved but stayed within Champaign County.
- Download a change of address form and mail it to County Clerk’s office. See "Update Your Existing Registration" section of the Register to Vote page on the County Clerk's website for details.
- You can also change your address when you go to polls to vote during early voting or on election day. New voters need to have a photo ID and something else showing name and current address.
