Weebly Orientation Topics

These topics are for orientation to the using Weebly for the LWVCC website.  After this session, you are invited to get your Weebly login and do the practice exercises on the Training pages 1-5.  You will probably proceed at different rates after the initial session.
Intro:  Walk through of the Weebly website pieces
Header/Navigation bar - Appears on every page
Footer - Appears on every page - what to do if you accidentally wander into the footer - how to get out
Pages - Each page has a name and a link. Pages can be "hidden" or visible. They can be copied or deleted or moved.
Most important page:  home page (most visited) always changing. Home page content backed up on other pages.
Menus - There are two major menus that you will work with:  the Build Menu and the Page Menu.
Build Menu - Most commonly used features: buttons, text, images, links, divider, spacer, content color boxes.
Page Menu - Home, About, News & Events, About Voting, Issues, Get Involved
Discussion:  Which menu would you use to create a text box?  Post an image on a page?  Which menu item contains the  Election Resources page?  Which menu item lets you provide input on Illinois legislation?  If you wanted to get rid of the News & Events item on the Navigation Menu, how would you do it?
Other things to notice:  Moving the cursor around on a Weebly Editor page shows you various lightly colored lines. These are important for knowing what piece of Weebly you are working on.
Demo:  Copy and Delete on the corners of boxes. Blue lines around a text box. Dotted box in the center top of a Content Color box that holds text and links. The text edit menu that appears when you click a text box which has similarity to Word docs. Learn which on makes text bigger/smaller, a different color, adds a link, adds a list, or does an "undo" action.
