WHY VOTE? Student Video Challenge
What was the Video Challenge? |
The League’s Youth Outreach and Civic Engagement (YOCE) Team sponsored the WHY VOTE? Student Video Challenge to engage high school students to develop videos to encourage other students to vote. YOCE reviewed national data of young voters and found that they pay most attention to positive voting messages from their peers. Given that high schools had gone to online learning in the spring and that YOCE would be unable to hold Mock Elections or conduct in person Voter Registration in the fall, videos created by local students could be shared as a way to encourage voter registration and participation.
The WHY VOTE? Student Video Challenge was open for any high school student or recent high school graduate to submit videos from June 1-July 12. All high school–age Champaign County students were invited to create 30-60 second nonpartisan videos convincing their peers and friends to register to vote and participate in the November 3, 2020 election. |
Thank you to the students who submitted videos! |
YOCE would like to recognize and thank all the students who submitted videos for the Why VOTE? Student Video Challenge.
