Digital Directory Coming to LWVCC Members
This year, LWVCC is transitioning from a printed directory to a digital directory. The reason for doing this is the cost of printing and mailing the directories has increased substantially. The Web Services Team and Member Services Team is busy working on this changed format and will release the directory to members as soon as possible.
Announcement to Members: Guidelines on Political Activity
The League of Women Voters of Champaign County (LWVCC) is a nonpartisan grassroots organization that encourages informed and active participation in government by providing voter education and increasing understanding of major public policy issues.
The League is nonpartisan in that it does not endorse or support any political candidates or elected officials. However, it is political in that the League takes positions on certain issues. Besides advocating for voting rights, the League has established positions in the areas of human resources, natural resources, local government, and the judicial system.
Following an established Political Activity Policy, the League urges members to participate in the political party of their choice as individuals, not purporting to represent the League. We view such participation as a key ingredient of citizen responsibility and believe that diversity of thought, opinion, and action makes our nonpartisan organization stronger. We also encourage members to contact their government officials.

Guidelines for Peaceful Protesting
The 1st Amendment of the US Constitution protects the rights of every citizen to peaceably assemble and express their views. As a service to our members, the League's calendar includes information about locally planned rallies, protests, and demonstrations.
Whether you are a new or seasoned participant, know your rights. Some of these local events may be viewed as partisan and/or taking a position adverse to the League’s stated position. Listings of these events does not imply a recommendation or endorsement by LWVCC, its officers and members, and cannot be used for advertising or endorsement purposes.

Announcement to Members: Impact on Issues for 2024-2026
|
Impact on Issues is an indispensable resource for League members. It is produced by the national League of Women Voters (LWVUS) to describe national public policy positions and inspire members to use them effectively at the national, state, local, and regional levels.
The latest version was released in December 2024 and is available for download from LWVUS. A short summary is also provided on our Federal and State Issues page.

Questions?
Members, particularly new members, often have questions about the League and how it works. Here are a couple of Frequently Asked Questions.
|
Q: How do I know who's in the LWVCC chapter of the League?
A: Browse your copy of the LWVCC Membership Directory. New members receive a paper copy by U.S mail around August. If you don't have one, or need a replacement, contact Carol Bosley, Member Support team. Q: How do I attend an online League meeting ?
A: LWVCC uses Zoom for many online group meetings. Members are usually sent an invitation to a meeting that includes a link to click to join the meeting. (For some meetings you have to register ahead. For many, you just click on Zoom on the day of the meeting. If you don't know how to use Zoom, ask a League colleague or see the Zoom training page. |
