LWVCC Positions on Issues
The League of Women Voters of Champaign County (LWVCC) has positions on many issues of political import in the broad areas of human resources, natural resources, local government and the judicial system.
To support these positions, we host public forums throughout the year with the aim of bringing useful, timely information to the community and sponsor other activities. Watch the LWVCC Events Calendar and/or home page for announcements of these programs.

Observer Corps
- League Observers attend meetings of governmental boards and commissions to learn how government works and about issues that are or may become items for local study and action. They advise the LWVCC Board of opportunities for action on League positions. Many community meetings are now held online and videos of meetings, along with agenda, minutes and more.
- In 2021, LWVCC presented this video: Observer Corps: Contributing to Citizen Oversight. Watch on YouTube. The video featured Brant Houston, Professor, College of Media UIUC and Jan Dorner, Observer Trainer, League of Women Voters of Illinois (LWVIL). Professor Houston spoke on the reduction in local news reporting and the importance of citizen oversight and Jan Dorner spoke about LWVIL’s support of local Leagues’ Observer programs.
