Champaign County Clerk Ammons cuts the ribbon for the newest county mail ballot drop box. Represetative Carol Ammons and Champaign Park District staff join in. From the story: "County Clerk and Recorder Aaron Ammons said this newest drop box in the parking lot of the Champaign Park District’s Martens Center at 1515 N. Market St. is one of three new locations he hopes to have in place in advance of next year’s primary elections, set for March 19. Ammons said he is also still hoping to get one drop box placed in Tolono, and he’d like to get another in one of the parking lots along Champaign’s North Prospect Avenue. The new one at the Martens Center was relocated from the Douglass Center in north Champaign, and the new location will continue convenient access for voters in the area, Ammons said. The drop box he hopes to place on North Prospect has been moved from the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, he said. Ammons continued to urge all voters who haven’t already signed up to receive a vote-by-mail ballot to do so, and described drop boxes as a secure and accessible option to placing those ballots in the mail. ..... There are currently 11 drop boxes in Champaign County, including the new one at Martens Center. They’re in Champaign, Urbana, Mahomet, Rantoul, Savoy and St. Joseph."
