Council members shared information about running for office, discussed how their roles have developed once in office, and responded to questions. Citizens shared effective strategies for contacting elected officials based on their experience. Also LWVCC Voter Ready co-chair Ann Prisland provided a last-minute primary election voting information. The webinar video is available here on the LWVCC YouTube site. The Primary Election is June 28. LWVCC teams are mobilizing to get information out to voters and encourage participation. Volunteers are needed to spread the word. June 11 and June 18: Urbana Farmers’ Market, 7:30 am--12:00 noon. We’ll be sharing League information along with information about voting options. June 25: MLK Jettie Rhodes Day,12:00 noon - 4:00 pm, King Park, rain or shine. This day is all about giving back to the community with fun, family, networking, and a diverse atmosphere. Many community groups will be represented—and there’ll be lots of stands with food and kids’ activities. All are welcome! We’ll be hosting a table and sharing League information along with encouraging early and election-day voting. |
